ABOUT JASTI

About JASTI

JASTI is an established Japanese company specializing in the development and manufacture of crash test dummies. Our goal is to produce dummy parts that meet the high expectations and technical requirements of our customers.
Our products conform not only to regulatory requirements and SAE technical reports, but also pass rigorous quality evaluation tests conducted at our Technical Center.
By evaluating the function of each component in actual dummy assemblies, we ensure the quality and reliability of each part.
We also manufacture and sell headform impactors for pedestrian protection testing. In cooperation with the Japan Automobile Research Institute (JARI), we developed 4.5 kg adult and 3.5 kg child headform impactors.
Our high-quality impactors are highly regarded in global markets for their durability and consistent quality.

Corporate Philosophy

Spirit of Altruism

Since its establishment in January 1994 under the philosophy of the “Spirit of Altruism,” JASTI has contributed to the development of safer vehicles for more than 30 years through the development and manufacture of equipment for automotive crash safety testing.
As electric vehicles, autonomous vehicles, senior mobility vehicles, electric bicycles, and other forms of mobility become more closely integrated into everyday life, requirements for evaluation ATDs and test equipment are evolving in terms of specifications, accuracy, and reliability.
For the increasingly diverse field of vehicle development, next-generation crash test ATDs capable of advanced injury assessment are now being adopted in regulatory testing.
JASTI will continue its efforts to contribute to safety in every aspect of daily life.

Environmental Initiatives

JASTI’s Initiatives for RoHS 2 Restricted Substances

The Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive is a European Union directive, first issued in February 2003, that restricts the use of certain hazardous substances. It limits the use of these substances in electrical and electronic equipment distributed within the EU in order to protect human health and the environment.
The product categories and regulated substances covered by the directive continue to be reviewed and expanded. At present, the following substances are subject to regulation.

▼ Restricted substancesLead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, PBB, PBDE, and cadmium

In June 2015, four additional substances were added to these six substances under Directive (EU) 2015/863, bringing the total number of restricted substances to ten.

▼ Additional restricted substancesDEHP, BBP, DBP, and DIBP

The four newly added substances are mainly phthalate compounds, which are widely used in Japan as plasticizers for polyvinyl chloride (PVC). The European restrictions on these substances have been in effect since July 2019.
JASTI had previously used DINP as a plasticizer for PVC. Although DINP is not directly included among the four substances listed above, it is a phthalate compound and may be subject to future regulation. For this reason, since 2015 JASTI has changed to a plasticizer that does not contain phthalic acid.
This information is also introduced in JASTI’s product catalog. Please refer to the product catalog for further details.
In addition, lead, one of the six restricted substances listed above, has now been replaced with an alternative material. Our dummies are designed with consideration for human health and environmental protection as fully RoHS-free products, so customers can use them with confidence.
Although crash test dummies and their components are not currently subject to EU regulation, JASTI will continue working to manufacture safer products.
